I will be away for an extended period and will have no internet connection. No regular telephone service, for that matter.

And so it seems an appropriate time to end the blog.

Like Paul PC4T, just about all has been said, or should I say written. I recently opened a Twitter account, something I never expected to do. I will keep that active though I will not be able to access it for some time.

I will be operating the radio under difficult "technical" conditions and time will be limited. But, I do hope to be able to contact some of you over the air.

An observation. After 32 years on the amateur radio bands, I find that the QRP community is, without exception, the finest, most courteous, and friendly group on the air. The QRO folks are great too, but my experience has been that QRPers are quite special.

I wish all of you, well. Those that are not well or have friends and family members who are not well, you are in my thoughts and I wish you the strength and courage to continue on.

  3. Hi Dick, I can understand. I spend more time now to be on air. Twitter, is compact but aloof. The many messages in a short time. I will use it to tell where I am QRV, or tell about a nice QSO in a few words. I do have your email, so you never know. All the people I met on my blog are precious for me and in a way they are my friends and so are you. BTW, I heard you yesterday or the day before, on 20 meter with a DJ station in qso. You were 599 here. After that qso I couldn't find you. All the best Dick and also for your YL. Take care, we keep in touch. 73 Paul

  6. Thanks for the comments, guys. I will be on the air when I can as /P. Will be QRO to help make up for what will be a poor antenna and antenna location. The lack of an easily accessible regular telephone and internet connection is going to be inconvenient for an American in France needing easy international communication with the home country.
